Why do so many small businesses fail to invest in marketing?
Yes my company is all about marketing in the online world, so I spend a large part of my time educating businesses as to exactly what that means, however it still amazes me just how little marketing of ANY type some business do and in some instances none at all!!
“I can’t afford it” is the most common excuse I get, but seriously, how can you afford not to?
And as for investing in a website well sometimes it seems the cheaper the better, because they just do not understand or see the value a good website is in terms of marketing their business, how it can generate leads and new business.
According to research more than half of small businesses with fewer than 50 employees do not have a website and of these nearly 58% believe they don’t need one. Really?
Well with over £1 in EVERY £10 being spent online (And only set to increase) and 78% of internet users conducting product research prior to purchasing products or services, how can you not have one?
Too many companies still see the purpose of their website as an online aspect of their company profile rather than as a potential source of new leads and business.
Invest in functionality not pages So you’ve got your website attracting, nurturing and converting new leads.
And please do not fall into the “I just need a basic website to get me started” trap.
If your’re serious about having a successful business then, you need to get serious about your marketing.
